Question:We wanted to start by exploring your arrival in Hong Kong, your background. You’re obviously influenced by your father, a teacher. He instilled in you a deep thirst for reading and knowledge. It sounds as if, despite the difficulties of your early career, you are an optimist about the future. Would you classify yourself as an optimist?
Li: First of all, I am an optimist. When you study hard and work hard, your knowledge grows, and it gives you confidence. The more you know, the more confidence you gain. When I was 10 years old, I lost my schooling, but I still had plenty of hope to return to school. When we came to Hong Kong, the family had no choice, and I had to work. I was facing life for the first time. I was 12 years old, but I felt like a 20-year-old. I knew then what life was. My father had tuberculosis, which was as devastating a disease as cancer is today. If you were rich and could afford proper care, you might have a better chance. We had no choice. I needed to be strong, and needed to find some way to secure a future.
Question:And as long as you have that preparation, that confidence, you have the general belief that things will work out?
Li: During the Japanese occupation, besides working, I also needed to get plenty of fresh air to remain healthy, because at that time, I also had TB. But at the same time, I also needed to study and work. That gave me confidence. I got my first break right after the Second World War. My boss needed a letter written. He had a secretary who wrote his letters for him, but he was on sick leave. When he asked around the office to see who could take his place temporarily, my colleagues recommended me. My boss said that my letters were quick and nice, and I got his meaning. He was happy with my work, and I was promoted to head a small department. I always believe that knowledge can change life. It was a case of knowledge changing my life.

Venue:Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre
Date:Tuesday February 2, 2010 – Thursday February 4, 2010 /10:00AM – 7:00PM
The ‘International Property Show – Dubai 2009′, the biggest transactional property exhibition in the region, has successfully concluded; despite the current downtrend in the property sector witnessing more than 10,000 visitors and substantial property deals struck among developers, real estate companies and investors.
Furthermore, the presence of RERA Consultancy Zones for the first time at the event, where authorised representatives disseminated information on introducing new property laws was also a huge hit among the attendees.
The 2010 edition is set to highlight exceptional developments in different sectors of the real estate market due to the current challenges brought about the global financial crisis which became essential to attract more value-oriented and selective investors.
A Riveting read, Peter Parfait’s Hot Property Alert is sending shockwaves through the international property market – introducing its subscribers to the sort of properties which rarely reach the open market – and in areas where prices are set to explode!
A plethora of online testimonies can vouch for this!
“My husband and I received our first copy just the other day and enjoyed reading every square inch. It really is a well-written, informative publication. It does seem like a gold mine waiting to be explored. Lots of fun too!” Eileen Wong
“I must say first that the publication is great, unique, excellent, and informative. You don’t want to put it down. Educational, openness on all subject matters, offers of assistance, and direction in one’s quest to succeed. You have been able to put pen to paper, in a style of magic. Every person who has a quest to succeed in business should, without fail, have a membership. You have created a wonderful publication that I am pleased to recommend to all. Congratulations to you and your team. I look forward to the next edition.” Brian Golding

Peter Parfait over the last 10 years has been runing two monthly property newsletters, Property Auction News and Hot Property Alert.
They’re a little different from other property newsletters, as they don’t take advertising – no one can pay to be featured in their media.
The people and companies they choose to promote have to offer products and services that they consider to be exceptional ie mostly heavily discounted property opportunities where you’re buying under market value, often 15% to 20%, but half-price is not uncommon.
Over the years Peter Parfait and his team have been instrumental in helping a good many people take control of their future financial security by investing in property and ….judging from the swathe of correspondence they receive, it appears that a great many have done very well from their investments.
Their Forum and Chat Room facilities are an entirely free service to communicate with fellow investors, make friends and business associates.

Gillian’s Rags to Riches story of Her Rise from East End of London!
“My name is Gill and I grew up in the East End of London. But now I am a multi-millionaire… and I’m absolutely convinced that you can become a millionaire too.
In November 2007 I was Channel Four’s ‘Secret Millionaire’, when I went back to my roots in the East End. My mission was to find deserving people to help get them started or to expand their businesses.
This was a highly emotional experience for me, because I was born into a very poor family. We lived in a two-up, two-down terrace house where three generations had been born and still lived. We backed onto the underground, and even the sewers!. We were so poor, we didn’t even have a number on the door – so I chalked one up on the wall! Now, some 40 years later, I am financially free and I need never work again.
Without any advantages – just by trial and error really – I discovered how to arrange my life so that money flowed towards me and not away from me. I worked out all the details over many years, but the great seed was sewn by a moment of insight that ignited a spark in me:
Making money is no harder than not making money. And it’s enormous FUN, too!
I find money exciting, funny, sexy, a thing of joy, something to be played with and enjoyed, and a very dear friend. It truly seems a magical thing, and it’s provided an excitement that’s never left me.
But the first thing to realise is that wealth is a multi-faceted thing. There’s not just one secret to becoming wealthy – it’s about making small but right decisions in a whole range of areas. And you don’t ‘need money to make money’! It really is true that every little helps. I know, because I set out on my mission to be rich with literally just £5 – as you’ll hear on your first CD.
Gill’s approach to property investing is to have two core strategies which are: basic capital appreciation by refurbishing and perhaps developing large up market properties, and forced appreciation with income on small buy to let flats. Added to that Gill likes to keep a balance in the portfolio by always including other strategies and consequently Gill also has properties overseas (America and Spain), reversionary property, conversion projects and anything that falls into the portfolio under the creative finance banner.
b) Equities
Gill’s strategy with equities is a more passive and traditional one because her time resource is allocated to the other two lanes of the motorway. Consequently the share portfolio is a buy and hold strategy with shares bought for high yield and strong fundamentals.
c) Business
At the moment Gill and her family own 7 businesses. The business wealth is created in two main sectors: firstly, education and training and secondly, finance and credit. This takes advantage of Gill’s two core skills.
d) Sundry
As well as the above Gill is also a Chartered Accountant and a qualified teacher and coach. Gill manages the Wealth Club and she is also working with Nightingale Conant to produce wealth awareness materials. Gill is also one of the 9 millionaires who created the Money Club, which provides information for aspiring millionaires.
